What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Support Specialist position at BCRC - Beaver County Rehabilitation Center?
As a Community Employment and Habilitation Support Specialist, you will play an important role in providing supports and integrated work experiences to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they work towards independence. This position works in the community and will travel through out Beaver County and occasionally outside of the county. Experience helpful but not necessary. Training will be provided.
In this position, you will assist individuals in developing and working toward their desired outcomes in the areas of; use of community resources, transportation, shopping and financial management and budgeting, communication, socialization, relationship and personal development, domestic skills, self-care, physical wellness, fine and gross motor skills and adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in home and community based settings and work experience.
Community Support activities you might participate in are:
· Volunteering in community programs
· Participating in community events and educational tours
· Accessing community resources and navigating public transportation
· Engaging in activities that promote exercise and physical wellness
· Assistance with grocery shopping
· Home living instruction – cooking, laundry, hygiene and safety
Supported Employment activities you might participate in are:
· Assessing vocational interest
· Identifying and securing employment opportunities
· Resume development, completing applications, job searches, and interview readiness
· Employment related personal skills instruction
· Workplace communication and requesting support or special accommodations
· Driver’s education and public transportation
· Job Coaching when desired or needed
Full and Part time - Opportunities in Beaver County:
Work Schedules could be as follows:
Typically Mon-Fri daylight between 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., requires some flexibility to provide support to our clients with evening and weekend employment. Part time is 3 - 4 days week. If job coaching is needed after 5:00 p.m. or on the weekends, employees receive a $1 differential.
