POSITION : Application Engineer Intern
CLASSIFICATION : Non-exempt
DEPARTMENT : Sales
SUMMARY :
Building Controls and Services provides a comprehensive suite of products and services to help clients efficiently optimize their facility operations. The Application Engineer Intern coordinates with the HVAC outside sales team to promote, estimate, and bid various product lines represented by BCS.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Product selection and pricing support
Customer service
60% Product selection and pricing support
Designs VRF layouts with engineers and contractors as directed by equipment applications engineer III or outside salesperson.
Selects preliminary equipment with equipment applications engineer III or outside salesperson on upcoming design / plan & spec projects.
Reviews plans, specifications, addendums and bid dates for projects.
Assist with control schematics, sequences, equipment schedules and equipment specs.
Assist with AAON controls configurations (worksheets or Prism).
Verifies equipment selections on BCS basis of design projects in preparation for bids.
Take-offs / Estimates / Prices for large HVAC equipment & other miscellaneous items from our product lines with outside salesperson’s oversight.
Coordinates bids with others in department.
30% Product and equipment orders
Gathers information and generate submittals to meet project specifications for approval by design engineer.
Coordinates ordering and project information with project manager to ensure smooth handoff.
Price change order as necessary.
10% Customer service
Assists customers and potential customers with problems involving the use of company products and services and recommends suitable solutions according to their needs.
QUALIFICATION
Education
Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field.
Skills and Experience
One year of experience in engineering systems or related field, preferred.
Some knowledge of engineering fundamentals and HVAC concepts and operations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Mathematical abilities to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and create and interpret graphs.
Ability to build rapport and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers.
Strong problem-solving ability.
Organized with an attention to detail.
Proficient with programming functions.
Good contracting skills required.
Proficient with AutoCAD or similar CAD programs.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans and specification.

Valid driver license
Other Requirements
Requires travel to and from job sites, primarily within the local area and Kansas.
