Position Overview
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, documenting, and translating business requirements into technical specifications that support enterprise systems, including policy, claims, billing, and finance operations. This role involves leading process improvement initiatives, conducting data analysis, and supporting reporting and analytics development. The analyst will work closely with stakeholders across the business and IT to ensure systems meet operational, compliance, and strategic needs. This role will also contribute to system enhancements, ensure alignment with business goals, and may mentor junior analysts as needed.
The Senior Full Stack Developer will report to the Head of Software Solutions.
Essential Elements
- Lead requirements gathering and documentation for systems supporting policy, claims, billing, and reinsurance.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications, use cases, and process diagrams.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, QA, and stakeholders to ensure solution alignment.
- Conduct data analysis using SQL and Excel to validate requirements and drive insights.
- Create Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs), workflows, and system models to support development.
- Document and support reporting/analytics needs, including Power BI dashboards.
- Contribute to ERP and enterprise system enhancements across finance and operations.
- Mentor junior analysts on best practices, methodology, and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist with change management, user training, and post-implementation support.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, audit, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, or related field required.
- Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Scrum Master preferred.
Experience
- 10 years as a Business Analyst in insurance or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of policy lifecycle, claims, reinsurance, and billing systems.
- Proficient in SQL, Excel, and tools such as Visio, Lucid Chart, or similar.
- Experienced in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Strong communication and analytical skills with ability to bridge business and IT.
- Experience with reporting platforms like Power BI or Tableau.
Travel Required
- Local travel to Oakbrook Terrace, IL office.
