What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supply and Delivery Driver position at BCSC Custodial Dept?
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Location: The position is primarily based in the Operations Building. However, the employee will be required to work at all Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation properties, as well as other affiliated and unaffiliated locations. A company van will be provided for use during work hours. The role will involve working in various weather conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Load and unload delivery vehicles to guarantee specific quantities and quality of stock to receive and deliver orders.
- Maintain minimal stock levels, pull and deliver stock to meet delivery requirements.
- Communicate effectively, orally and in written forms with diverse groups of people which may include principals, administrators, administrative assistants, salesmen, custodians, and service providers.
- Respond to quality improvement inquiries, including materials and process improvement techniques.
- Maintain a valid operator’s license (with a preference for a Chauffer’s license) and drive vehicles to transport orders and materials from the warehouse to schools.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g. forklift, trailer, pallet jack, hand truck, scissor 10. single lift, etc.) to move heavy and large items safely and effectively.
- Assist other personnel as may be required with snow removal (including tractors, snow plows, salt spreaders, and hand shoveling) to maintain a school schedule. Use hand tools to assemble & disassemble equipment and furniture.
- Some shift flexibility and overtime are required. (e.g., snow removal, special events & projects)
- Maintain a clean, safe workplace in the warehouse and vehicle.
- Inspects, evaluates maintains, and inventory custodial equipment which may include sweepers, chariots, carpet steamers, pick-up machines, fire extinguishers, and custodial supplies to ensure equipment and inventory is kept in a safe and operational condition and at minimum standards.
- Maintains vehicles and notifies the department lead regarding repairs to ensure safe operation. (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, maintenance, and general vehicle repair.
- Assist in the cleaning and resurfacing of gym floors and hardwood floor resurfacing and repairs. If needed, assist in summer floor surfacing.
- Receives and maintains a Pool Operator’s Certification to assist the facilities in maintaining safe pools in the schools.
- Complete training requirements when requested by the Lead/Manager. (e.g. equipment, flooring, chemical, and computer.)
- Must be able to complete repetitive tasks with minimal direction.
- Possess computer skills that allow retrieval of e-mail communications, work order requests, and research for information that is required to accomplish duties associated with the job.
- Call representatives of other agencies to assist with gathering information to accomplish tasks.
- Be able to complete tasks with direction and also be able to work without continual supervision.
- Analyze product costs to determine the most efficient purchase and use of consumable products by the corporation.
- Possess the ability to conduct clear and understandable presentations with confidence individually or with small groups.
- Possesses the ability to use the computer for everyday office tasks and the ability to record data and show an understanding of cost accounting accurately.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMAL EXPECTATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Specific Skills required to perform the functions of this job satisfactorily include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in the warehouse; operating standard office equipment including software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios; understand written procedure, write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
Ability to schedule activities, gather and analyze data, and operate equipment using acceptable, defined methods is required.

Starting hourly rate placement: $16.41-$19.67
An additional $1 per hour will be paid from referendum funds.
