The Entry Level Laboratory Technician has a wide range of job duties which include but are not limited to the following : implementing, and enforcing the HACCP / HARPC plan, enforcing GMPs, sampling and testing of raw materials, environment, chemical concentrations, work in process and finished goods.
Primary Job Functions :
- Quality Control and Regulatory : Responsible for ensuring all materials are tested appropriately and meet quality standards. Raw materials and finished goods must meet federal regulations and guidelines. Performs and documents pre-op inspections of processing / production areas and equipment.
- SQF : Assists Quality Manager in implementation of all policies and procedures to obtain SQF Level II certification.
- GFCO : Adhere to all GFCO standards for all ingredient approvals.
- Standard Operating Procedures : New staff training, and on the job training of employees in GMP, allergen and sanitation compliance. Documentation of training and communicating any issues with the Plant Manager.
- Quality Line Checks - perform checks of processing lines, including weight, label verification, and metal detector checks using the software Redzone.
- Testing : Responsible for testing raw materials and finished goods for sensory attributes, chemical composition, and microbiological levels. Includes ATP and allergen testing. Tests, documents, and verifies cleaning chemical concentrations. Samples environment and coordinates with outside labs for environmental microbiological testing.
- R&D : Assist Quality Manager and Plant Manager in special projects. Projects include new formulations, plant trials, and testing of new analytical equipment.
- Internal Audits : Performs internal audits on GMPs' safety, sanitation, food defense and quality systems. Works with management team to verify corrective actions are implemented for audit deficiencies.
- Replacement : If for any reason the Lab Technician is unable to perform his / her duties for any amount of time the Quality Manager will take over the responsibilities until the Lab Tech returns or is replaced.
Training and Experience :
1. Food Defense Training - Preferred
2. Have a minimum of 1 year experience in a food processing plant
3. Laboratory skills preferred but willing to train.
4. Oral and written communication skills
5. Minimum computer experience, excel, word.
Work Schedule : Monday through Friday from 1 : 00am to 9 : 00am with weekends and overtime as needed to meet production demands. A $1.00 shift differential will be provided for shift pay.
Job Type : Full-time
Pay : $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours : 36 - 40 per week
