What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architecture Retail Design Associate position at BDG Architects?
BDG Architects has an immediate need for a Retail Design Associate to work from the headquarters of our national banking client located in downtown Cincinnati. This role will be a member of the internal Design Team and assist in leading the retail design program, coordinating with partner architectural firms and project teams throughout the design and execution of retail projects.
5 to 7 years of experience is preferred with experience in retail design. This person will be responsible and accountable for openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. It is essential for this person to engage in morally upright actions for customers and colleagues, and ensure that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience.
Roles and Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:
· Act as primary liaison to the retail team to understand needs for retail locations.
· Work with architectural teams to guide design.
· Work with innovation team to help define customer experience in retail, and what the future of retail design should be.
· Work with architectural partners to define the kit of parts for retail environments. Evaluate kit of parts periodically to guide updates.
· Guide the development of all retail design components: look and feel; visual standards; design standards; architectural product standards; design review standards; furniture standards.
· Work with architectural partner to capture standards on design standards website; guide updates as needed.
· Work with property management team, disseminating standards for asset preservation projects.
· Assume additional related responsibilities as assigned.
· Drive the continued development of the retail banking experience, including “test and learn” activities in branches.
· Translate retail design research findings into branch design.
· Align with and inform real estate team with information related to site selection.
· Leverage your creativity as a springboard for ideas and a tool for creative direction of A D partners.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Strong design sensibilities, seeing space as the context for a holistic human experience.
· Strong understanding of human behavior in retail environments.
· Ability to clearly communicate ideas and strategy, verbally and visually.
· Ability to work together with A D firms is required.
· Understanding of retail banking needs, history, and trends.
· Sketching skills preferred.
· Retail design experience required.
· Minimum ten (10) years of experience is required.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Detail oriented.
Education
· Design degree (BS or BA) or equivalent experience required.

Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
