BDR is seeking a Sr. Database Developer (Lead) to join our growing team! This position will be performed virtually from the individual's home office working on EST time schedule. This position requires US Citizenship with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Developer (Lead Position) with extensive experience in both Oracle and PostgreSQL development and a strong background in cloud-based data platforms. This role is ideal for someone who excels at providing technical leadership and architectural guidance for database initiatives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PL/SQL and SQL development, cloud migration, and performance optimization, and will be comfortable interfacing with both technical teams and stakeholders to support mission-critical systems. Prior experience supporting government clients is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Leadership role in providing guidance and strategic direction on enterprise database development and modernization efforts.
- Provide expert level support with PL/SQL development including Procedures, Triggers, Scripting, functions, and packages.
- Write and maintain Oracle and PostgreSQL queries, scripts, and stored procedures.
- Design and maintain database structures to support software applications and business needs.
- Perform data migrations, integrations, and transformations between Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams —including application developers, DevOps, and data analysts— to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with Oracle and PostgreSQL technologies and best practices to continuously improve database systems.
- Perform query and database tuning to find bottlenecks and improve performance of queries
- Provide expert level support and guidance on database migration efforts and tools such as AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), GoldenGate, and other industry-standard platforms
- Learn and gain insight on the applications' databases including hosting environment, structure, and code base
- Maintain code using Git and GitLab
- Help guide database related decision process with the customer
- Work on production data support, produce scripts, and deployment instructions
- Ensures data availability and disaster recovery planning
- Collaborates with development teams to ensure proper database design and usage.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Information Systems, or other related discipline (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
- 5 years of experience of Database Development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL and PostgreSQL SQL
- Proven ability to develop and optimize complex stored procedures, triggers, functions, and packages
- Experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, Amazon Aurora, and/or Azure Database Services
- Strong background in database performance tuning and query optimization
- Experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Oracle GoldenGate for database migrations
- Familiarity with disaster recovery strategies, high availability architecture, and backup/restoration procedures
- Experience with version control systems and deployment pipelines involving database code
- Ability to lead technical discussions and make architectural recommendations in collaborative settings
- Ability to create professional resolutions in adverse situations with minimal oversight.
- Comfort working in agile teams, producing high-quality documentation and deliverables
- Prior experience supporting a government client
