POSITION SUMMARY
The Heavy Equipment Operator position is an hourly position that reports to the site Foreman. The basic function of the Operator is to operate all the heavy machinery and equipment at the worksites in an efficient, effective, and safe manner that achieves the objectives of the project on time and within scope.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be familiar with and abide by, Company procedures, policies, and instructions.
- Responsible for the safe an efficient operation of equipment in the field and maintain cleanliness of work area.
- Prompt arrival for scheduled shifts.
- Possess a current driver’s license and clean driving record if driving Company vehicles.
- General manual labor as required.
- List is not exhaustive; other duties as assigned by management as necessary.
- Ability to arrive at various job sites in the region, including multiple job sites per day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing duties of this job, the Operator and Laborer is regularly required to perform the following:
- Drive and operate a motor vehicle and heavy machinery.
- Use hands and fingers for hand tools.
- Ascend and descend a step ladder.
- Stand and move for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.
- Sit for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.
- Kneel or crouch for extended periods of time, up to one hour at a time.
- Operate hand tools or light power tools.
- Regularly lift and exert up to 100 pounds of force in order to carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Work up to six days per week and 12 hours per day.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
DUTIES & SKILLS
- Ability to strip the site
- Understanding of soil types and structure (determine topsoil vs structural)
- Load trucks
- Grade roads/lots
- Trench digging
- Read and understand engineered staking
- Other duties assigned as needed in the field.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Usual construction site working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most construction environments. Early morning and evening hours are necessary to accommodate participation in extended hours.

SCHEDULE
- Monday to Friday - 7am start time, daily overtime as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years experience operating machinery in a construction zone
- Backhoe/Excavator: 2 years
- Dozer: 1 year
- Track/Wheel Loader: 1 year
- Skill and ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to read and analyze documents pertaining to construction project preferred.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and handheld power tools.
LICENSING or CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED
- Valid Driver’s License required
- CPR and First Aid preferred or willing to obtain
- OSHA Operating Certification preferred or willing to obtain
EDUCATION
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Salary : $25 - $35
