Vitreo-Retinal Consultants, an ophthalmology practice specializing in the treatment of retinal diseases, is looking for a friendly, kind and reliable person to join their team in the Canfield location. The Ophthalmic Assistant works closely with the physicians and technicians to provide high-quality care to each patient of the practice. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be willing to help out in any way they can in this very busy medical practice.
Responsibilities Include:
· Perform patient work ups according to type of patient visit.
· Accurately perform and document in electronic medical record the patient’s visual and ocular testing, and blood pressure.
· Maintain patient flow through work-up, exam, and procedure rooms in a manner that facilitates physician efficiency.
· Prepare patient and exam room for exam and/or procedure, utilizing proper sterile technique as appropriate.
· Assist physicians during exam.
· Open/close rooms – make sure all equipment is properly cleaned, and supplies are stocked and prepared. Maintain cleanliness of all clinical areas throughout the day.
· Answer/return patient phone calls as appropriate.
· Order room supplies.
· Perform general office tasks as assigned/as needed.
· Maintain patient confidentiality.
Experience:
- Previous experience working in an ophthalmology medical office setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in using standard office equipment (e.g., EHR, computers, printers, fax machines).
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
