Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Job Summary:
The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring that all equipment, systems, and facilities are properly maintained and operational. The Lead Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize and delegate tasks, lead a team of technicians, and ensure that maintenance procedures and schedules are followed effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to solving maintenance issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians in the performance of routine and preventative maintenance, ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, and according to established quality standards.
- Conduct inspections of machinery, equipment, and facilities to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs and preventive measures.
- Oversee and participate in the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other facility systems and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards, providing training and guidance on safety protocols.
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance tasks, including emergency repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, including service reports, inventory logs, and parts usage.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure maintenance schedules do not disrupt production or other operational processes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs and systems.
- Train, mentor, and develop maintenance team members, ensuring a high level of performance and productivity.
- Respond to on-call maintenance emergencies, as needed, and manage after-hours support as required.
- Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for maintenance-related activities.
- Continuously evaluate maintenance procedures and systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or technical certification in a relevant field is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related technical field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other facility systems and equipment.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient with maintenance management software and tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations (OSHA, etc.).
- Flexibility to work after hours, weekends, or on-call as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in physically demanding environments.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb ladders as needed to complete maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals, noise, and extreme temperatures.
Additional Information:
- This position may require occasional travel to different facilities or locations.
- The Lead Maintenance Technician may be required to work on-call for emergency situations and participate in rotational shifts.
