Job Responsibilities include:
- Safely and efficiently operate Directional Drill
- Responsible for daily maintenance on drill rig and truck
- Responsible for loading/ hauling bore rig with dedicated drill truck
- Responsible for mixing boring mud, knowledgeable of additives/ ratios
- Assists locator with creating daily bore plan and establish bore path
- Assists with routine labor (utility spotting, duct and fiber placement, equipment set-up, setting underground structures) as needed.
- Assists with spotting/ potholing to ensure safe passage of bore tooling
- Willingness to cross-train as a drill locator.
- Assists with creating safe worksite using proper signage and cones
- Strong verbal communication skills with customers, governing bodies, and fellow co-workers
- Punctual attendance is vital for this position
- Regular overtime is required, ability to be called in for emergencies when they arise.
- Travel is required
- Must be familiar with one call rules, spotting procedures, and safe utility excavation
- Forward thinking to assist with overall jobsite efficiency
- Able and willing to shovel consistently and lift between 50- 75 pounds
- Drive commercial vehicles to and from job site, towing a variety of trailers
- Able to properly stock truck with required tools, materials, and parts for efficient performance in the field
- Abide by all company safety requirements and help ensure coworkers are operating in a safe manor
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are kept clean, high company cleanliness standards
- Preform basic repairs and maintenance of tooling and equipment
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Responsible for complying with all company safety, OSHA, and DOT standards
- Work on horizontal directional drilling projects of all sizes.
- Load, unload and transport construction materials, machines and tools.
- Safely and efficiently operate tools and equipment based on job requirements.
- Verify location of existing utilities and adjust route as necessary based on job specifications and easement requirements.
- Ability to determine proper drilling fluid additives for specific soil types and conditions. Assist with job site clean-up.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Previous Drilling experience required (3-5 years preferred)
- Experience running compact excavator to assist with structure placement, grading, and general excavation
- Experience operating utility locator to assist with potholing
- Able and willing to shovel consistently and lift between 50- 75 pounds
- Valid insurable driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- Second only to safety… have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
