Beacon Behavioral LLC is seeking a highly qualified Director of Nursing (DON) to join our team at our Behavioral Hospital on the Northshore at our Lacombe Inpatient Hospital. As the DON, you will be responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the highest level of patient care. You will work closely with the hospital leadership team to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a safe and effective work environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies and ensuring that the hospital meets all quality standards.
Beacon Behavioral LLC, formerly known as Synergy, was first established in 1998 as a free-standing Community Mental Health Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Today, Beacon employs over 300 caring staff members at seven different outpatient locations in Louisiana, including Baton Rouge, Metairie, Slidell, Hammond, Bogalusa, Alexandria, and Opelousas as well as five hospitals located in New Orleans, Westbank, Lacombe, Bunkie and Lutcher.

What does the Director of Nursing do? (including but not limited to)
As the Director of Nursing, you will utilize your strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage the nursing staff and ensure the highest level of patient care. You will also use your knowledge of nursing practices and procedures to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a safe and effective work environment. Additionally, your experience in a leadership role will be essential in providing guidance and support to the nursing staff. Your ability to collaborate with the hospital leadership team and maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies will be critical to the success of the hospital.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Oversee the nursing staff and ensure that all patient care is provided in a safe and effective manner
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a safe and effective work environment
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies and ensure that the hospital is meeting all quality standards
- Collaborate with the hospital leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans for the hospital
- Provide leadership and guidance to the nursing staff and promote a positive work environment
The ideal candidate for the position will have the following background and experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of Louisiana
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years of psychiatric nursing experience and at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- knowledge of professional nursing principles, procedures and techniques used in the care and treatment of psychiatric patients.
- Social, psychological and physical factors of mental and emotional disorders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing or related field
- Experience in a behavioral health setting
- Certification in nursing administration or national certification as a Psychiatric Nurse.
