Beacon Behavioral Partners is looking for a Medical Office Receptionist to join our team! This full-time position is in Vicksburg, Mississippi and will support the Precise Clinical Neuroscience Specialist Group.

What does the Medical Office Receptionist do?
(including but not limited to)

Your primary goal is to serve patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, & maintaining records and accounts. You will be responsible for providing superior customer service to patients regarding their accounts, ensuring patient balances are accurate, and for collection of patient balances. This is a high-paced position that requires a FOCUSED individual that can multi-task.


Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
  • Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
  • Ensures the availability of treatment information by assisting in the maintenance of medical records.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
  • Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining the confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients as questions are answered in person or on the phone regarding billing issues.
  • Ensure all calls are returned or follow up has been completed by end of the day.
  • Discuss payment plans with patients.
  • Date of service collections - Check patient balances 3-5 days before the appointment, try to collect the balance or make a note in the appropriate system for check-out to collect.
  • Other collections - Review and research patient responsibility balances.
  • Make calls to patients to collect old balances daily


Qualifications

  • High School Graduate with college coursework preferred.
  • Medical terminology experience.
  • One year of experience working in a physician’s office is preferred with the proven ability in the areas of: Multi-tasking, Flexibility, Telephone Skills, Computer Skills, Customer Service, Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail, Scheduling, Professionalism, and Quality.


Physical Demands:

This job requires employees to have a full range of physical capabilities, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye-hand coordination. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range are also required.
