If you are a Registered Nurse who is looking for a change in your work locations, join Beacon Behavorial's Float Pool. RN's must have hands on experience with Inpatient Psychiatric patient population. To be considered for FT float and PRN float pool, RNs must be able adapt quickly to changing work locations and ability to travel between Beacon's various hospitals located in New Orleans East, Westbank, Lacombe and Lutcher.

We are offering up to a $10,000 retention bonus with some additional benefits such as mileage and travel reimbursement should that be needed.

Beacon Behavioral Support Services is one of the largest and most established behavioral health programs in Louisiana. For 25 years, Beacon employs caring staff at locations across southeast Louisiana: Baton Rouge, Metairie, Slidell, Hammond, Bogalusa, Bunkie, Opelousas, and Lutcher. We currently provide inpatient programs and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) that provide therapy to those struggling with emotional disorders, substance abuse, and mental disorders. Over the past 2 years, Beacon has expanded its service line to partner Private Practices in TX, AR, MS, FL, AL.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Function as the Charge Nurse, responsible for nursing care and supervision of LPNs, CNAs and Mental Health Technicians. RNs assure that care provided demonstrates the ANA standards for care and utilizes evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of the treatment program, including individual Plans of Care.
  • Serve as the Medication Nurse as needed and assist LPNs and all staff as needed. Teamwork is essential in this role.
  • Assist the DON as the liaison between the program staff and medical staff.
  • Work within established budget and staffing guidelines.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement by engaging in the plan, study, do act cycle of improvement.
  • Serve as a role model to others of professionalism, positive attitude, and excellent patient care.
  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to hospital setting and team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of operation.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s, associate degree or diploma in nursing with documented evidence of educational program focused on treating psychiatric patients.
  • Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience, 1 year of which was providing nursing care to the mentally ill, OR receive regular documented supervision/consultation from a Master’s prepared psychiatric nurse.
  • Must be able to think on your feet and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Must be able to work independently and be comfortable taking directions from multiple health care team members.
  • Ability to provide high quality care in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support required.
  • Certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
