Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepares patients before drawing blood.
- Verifies patient information and labels blood samples properly.
- Helps nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws.
- Determines and performs tests needed for the analysis and report.
- Discusses and answers any questions regarding results with patients.
- Cleans and maintains lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment.
- Follows all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe sanitary work area.
- Willing to cross train in other appropriate clinic departments as needed.
- Ensures supplies such as medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags, test tubes, etc. are stocked.
- Maintains equipment records and daily work logs.
- Organizes and stores samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample.
- Records tests and analyses and then reports the results.
- Draws or receives, labels, and safely stores samples to be tested.
- Accurately updates patient information in the organization’s database.
- Explains blood draw procedures to patients and answers questions about the process.

Preferred Education and Experience
- Lab or science background strongly recommended.
- Phlebotomy certification required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and working at a computer and lab equipement.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Scheduling
- looking for a part-time worker interested in working primarily Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and might have some interest/availability in filling in for shifts, etc.
