What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Counselor position at Beacon College?
Beacon College is the South’s only college exclusively for students with specific learning differences or ADHD and is located in Leesburg, Florida – approximately one-hour northwest of sunny Orlando, Florida.
The Office of Enrollment Management has an opening for the position of Admissions Counselor. This full-time, 12-month position will be a pivotal role for the admission team in an effort to enroll students in the College and various college readiness programs. Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Admission, the Admissions Counselor would implement active outreach strategies to increase enrollment and expand knowledge of the Beacon College difference to students, families, and professionals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with public speaking and have the ability to travel on behalf of the College. Admission Counselors must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and committed to the mission of Beacon College.
Essential Job Functions:
- Communicate with a large number of prospective students through heavy outreach (phone, texting, emailing, virtual appointments, on-campus programs).
- Develops and grows knowledge of Beacon College, our mission, and programs, to inform stakeholders about credit and non-credit bearing options.
- Becomes familiar with and communicates with prospective families and professionals on various topics related to college admissions for students with learning differences.
- Using data and recruitment plans provided, travel on behalf of the College to high schools, college/transition fairs, and conferences to actively recruit students for the college and non-credit bearing programs.
- Lead campus tours for prospective students and families.
- Support the training of Beacon Ambassadors as they begin to lead campus tours and other outreach events.
- Attend department-wide special programs on nights and weekends including virtual information sessions, open houses, and professional visits.
- Processes files, records outreach, and monitors student application files for assigned caseload
- Reviews applicant materials to help determine admissibility to the College
- Provide consistent enrollment reporting the Associate Dean of Admissions regarding outreach efforts, recruitment results, and other key reporting data.
- Follows policies and procedures for admissions department.
- Coordinates with outside agencies, stakeholders, parents, and alumni.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 1-3 years working in higher education, special education, or in other related fields.
- Excellent platform skills and comfort with public speaking.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel on behalf of the College.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Videoconferencing Platforms.
- Strong written and communication skills.
