What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ag Junior Loan Officer position at Beacon Credit Union?
Note : This position could be based at various Beacon Credit Union offices throughout the state of Indiana so long as there is available office space. This Junior Loan Officer will need to have the necessary sales skills and ability required to develop new business after receiving training, with the goal of becoming an Ag Loan Officer with their own loan portfolio.
Role
To assist members with their Agriculture and Commercial lending needs; analyze loan requests and make credit recommendations based on lending policy. Responsible for analyzing credit and financial reports to determine risk involved in loaning money or extending credit. Junior Loan Officer will have limited lending authority and will assist in working delinquent accounts.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs on-site commercial / farm visits in order to interview member loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition and to review member's relationship with Beacon Credit Union. Participates in sales development activities.
- Performs initial and ongoing credit analysis to determine if members' credit requests satisfy policies and procedure guidelines, and prepares and processes all applicable documentation for credit analysis and risk ratings. Prepares a detailed narrative based on the financial trends and ratios to present in the reports presented to loan committees for loan approval and risk rating score assignment purposes. Makes recommendation to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision. Assists in establishing the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member.
- Reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy. Will also be expected to work with outside individuals such as title companies, appraisers, realtors, etc.
- Keeps informed of current trends in commercial and agricultural lending. Explains loan programs to members, evaluates their needs and recommends loan options.
- Follows current loans to ensure compliance with terms and coordinates with collections as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
One to three years of agriculture, sales and / or related credit union experience
Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Sales skills and an ability to develop new business after training
Ability to communicate (both oral and written)
Ability to foster sound relationships with other entities
Extremely detail-oriented
Excellent judgment
A significant level of trust and diplomacy, in addition to courtesy and tact
Ability to work with little or no supervision
Standard position hours are Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
