What are the responsibilities and job description for the Talent Acquisition Specialist position at Beacon Credit Union?
Note : Full-time on-site work at the Wabash Administration Building is preferred, but we may allow the chosen candidate to work from another BCU office location, with available space, up to two days / week after the initial training / orientation period is complete.
Role
Responsible for the recruitment and hiring of Beacon Credit Union non-exempt staff as dictated by continued growth and replacement positions. Perform new hire preparation activities and assist with the onboarding process, as needed.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews Request for Personnel and / or Direct Transfer Request forms received from supervisors for accurate completion. Creates job postings and posts positions internally and externally, if necessary, to secure the most suitable candidate. Reviews all applications received through applicant tracking system and other sources. Communicates with applicants concerning availability of jobs through emails, texts or phone calls. Maintains tracking system of applications to be reviewed for future hiring needs. Maintains recruitment files and forms to ensure most current information is available, including job descriptions, organizational chart and benefit brochures.
- Receives and acts upon Application for Transfer forms received from internal applicants, including assisting with the interview process as needed. Screens external hourly position candidates, and salaried position candidates as requested, and schedules all interviews with screened applicants. Conducts all applicable testing, background checks and reference checks in order to assist with hiring recommendation. Offers position and salary (approved by Vice President, Human Resources) to chosen applicant and communicates decision with non-chosen applicants. Informs staff of employment activity via e-mail and intranet.
- Performs mew hire orientation / training preparation activities, including contacting training coaches and supervisors to confirm training dates and working with HR Assistant to build an orientation / training schedule. Sends necessary communication to deactivate departing employees from various systems.
- Supports summer internship recruiting programs that provide meaningful business experiences to the co-ops and interns and result in a high conversion rate to permanent employees.
- Manages and promotes Employment Referral Program to stimulate applicant flow.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
One to three years of similar or related experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business (with a specialization in Human Resources) or a related field. SHRM-CP certification preferred, or willingness and ability to study for and pass SHRM-CP certification exam within two years of employment.
Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization and outside contacts
Ability to handle sensitive employee and candidate information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
Proficient in Word, Excel and email systems
Knowledge of basic hiring laws and regulations
Standard position hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
