Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant Scribe

Position Overview:
The Certified Medical Assistant Scribe assists physicians by handling documentation and clerical tasks during patient visits. By directly observing patient interactions, the scribe records accurate information in the medical record, allowing the physician to focus more on patient care. The scribe also helps with ordering tests, medications, and ensuring smooth patient flow.
Key Responsibilities:
Documentation & Clerical Support:
- Greet patients and visitors professionally, answering phone calls and relaying messages.
- Gather patient information to update records accurately.
- Compile and organize medical history, previous records, and test results.
- Document patient encounters in real-time, including histories, exams, and physician orders.
- Transcribe orders for tests, medications, and procedures accurately in the system.
- Enter diagnoses and procedure codes as dictated by the physician.
Patient Care & Assistance:
- Assist patients with getting ready for exams and take basic vital signs.
- Help physicians during minor procedures or emergencies.
- Administer medications, injections, and perform lab tests as instructed.
- Provide patients with clear instructions based on physician's guidance.
- Assist with managing patient prescriptions and ensuring compliance with prescribed treatments.
Communication & Coordination:
- Serve as a liaison between patients and the medical team, advocating for patient needs.
- Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate for optimal patient care.
- Help maintain the flow of patients by assisting with scheduling, refills, and follow-up.
Professional Development:
- Attend required training and meetings to stay current with skills and protocols.
- Complete mandatory educational requirements and competencies.
Education & Experience:
- Required:
- High school diploma (preferred).
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification through AAMA or similar (Certified Medical Assistant).
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Clinical Skills:
- Proficient in basic medical procedures like EKGs and lab tests.
- Familiar with ICD-10 and CPT coding for accurate documentation.
Communication:
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, staff, and visitors.
Organization:
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage patient records efficiently.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks.
Working Conditions:
Environment:
- Primarily in a medical office setting.
