Assistant Swim Coach (seasonal/part-time)
Beacon Hill Club is looking for Assistant Swim Coaches to join our team in the upcoming 2025 summer season. This position works with children of all ages and possesses the capabilities and maturity to handle responsibilities involved in maintaining a safe pool environment.
The Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Swim Coach in the oversight of the Club swim program. This position assists with the day-to-day operations of the summer swim team and develops positive relationships with swimmers, members, and assists in promoting program interest and participation. The Assistant Swim Coach will also have the opportunity to teach private swim lessons for additional earnings.
Education and Experience:
- High School Junior or older
- Must have at least 3 years of swimming experience
- Confident with teaching and helping children ages 4-15
- Lifeguard and CPR/AED certification preferred
Core Competencies and Expectations:
- Basic knowledge of swim stroke technique and training methods
- Provide a fun, safe and educational experience for team swimmers while enforcing pool safety rules
- Must be enthusiastic, responsible, dependable, level-headed, flexible and calm in all situations
- A clean and professional presentation in attire and comportment are necessary
Job Tasks and Duties:
- Lead weekly swim team practices under the direction of the Head Swim Coach
- Provides consistent training direction, encouragement and motivation to help swimmers prepare for competitive events
- Adjusts coaching techniques based on the needs of each individual swimmer
- Assists Head Coach with creation of swim team lineups prior to all swim meets
- Attends and supervises at all swim meets, practices and social events, as directed
- Assists with organizing team meets throughout the summer season
- Ensures safe and respectful conduct of all team swimmers at all times
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors to Head Swim Coach
- Assists Head Swim Coach with coordinating team parents throughout the season
- Responsible for assisting with the swim instruction component for BHC day campers
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Walking and standing for extended periods of time
- Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, stoop, stand and lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to tread water for extended periods of time
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions
- Proper application of rescue and first aid techniques
