ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monthly / Year-End Close :

  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.

Financial Reporting :

  • Conduct thorough balance sheet reviews to maintain clean and accurate financial records.
  • Provide narratives and presentations for the finance committee, explaining financial performance and variances.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

    • Budgeting :

  • Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop and manage the annual budget.

    • Tax Compliance :

  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including preparing and filing Form 990 and 990-T.
  • Handle sales tax and group exemption filings as needed.

    • Audit and Compliance :

  • Maintain a clean balance sheet and ensure readiness for annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

    • Leadership and Mentorship :

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, ensuring continuous improvement and development.

    • Project Management :

  • Manage RFP processes for banking, investments, and new financial software systems.
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of new software, ensuring seamless integration and improved efficiency.

    • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Strong technical acumen and understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting, including 501(c)(3) organizations and endowments.
  • Excellent audit experience.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with financial software; experience with MIP is a plus.
