Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our mental health team in DeSoto, Texas. This full-time position is ideal for a skilled professional with at least two years of experience in psychiatric care who is committed to providing comprehensive and patient-centered mental health services. The PMHNP will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
Conduct detailed psychiatric evaluations, including comprehensive medical and mental health histories.
Diagnose and treat mental health disorders using DSM-5 criteria and evidence-based practices.
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, integrating psychotherapy, medication management, and lifestyle interventions.
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments when required.
Work collaboratively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Patient Advocacy and Support:
Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication usage.
Encourage patient engagement and active participation in their care plans.
Cultivate a supportive and empathetic environment to enhance patient trust and rapport.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medication lists, in compliance with regulatory standards.
Ensure adherence to HIPAA, state, and federal regulations, as well as clinic policies.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to uphold clinical best practices.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other healthcare providers to deliver integrated care.
Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and continuing education (CE) opportunities.
Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric care, including new treatments and technologies.
Qualifications:
Education and Licensing:
Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing with a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialization.
Board certification as a PMHNP (through ANCC or equivalent).
Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Texas.
DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances in Texas.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in psychiatric or mental health care required.
Proven ability to work with diverse patient populations, including adolescents, adults, and/or geriatrics.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficient in diagnosing and developing treatment plans for mental health disorders.
Expertise in psychopharmacology and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in addiction psychiatry, trauma-informed care, or geriatric psychiatry is a plus.
Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
