The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, and ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement for services provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to treatment.
- Obtain pre-authorizations for procedures as required by insurance companies.
- Ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for services provided.
- Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding coverage and payment issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of insurance verification and pre-authorization activities.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care and financial outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance verification and pre-authorization
- Strong knowledge of insurance plans, benefits, and coverage requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems
Special Requirements:
- The Insurance Verification Specialist may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use a computer and telephone, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- The Insurance Verification Specialist will work in a healthcare setting and may be exposed to infectious diseases, radiation, and other hazards associated with medical procedures.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour shift
