What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Home Manager position at Beacon Specialized Living Services?
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of work experience working directly with persons with disabilities or
- Associate’s degree and four years of work experience working directly with persons with disabilities or;
- 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and four years of work experience working directly with persons with disabilities or;
- High School/GED plus formal work experience in Human Services industry.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid driver’s license in state of residency with a positive driving record.
- Must pass a series of background checks
Essential Functions:
At the direction, or in the absence of the Program Manager, the Assistant Program Manager assumes responsibility for the hands on operation of the community living home and the sound clinical and ethical habilitations of the individuals in their care.
Oversees daily operation of residence through direct service activity corresponding with Individual Service Plans and staff supervision.- In absence of the Manager, directs personnel activity of the Community Living Home.
- Responsible to ensure home licensing compliance.
- In emergency situations, assists in providing necessary coverage in home to ensure safety and welfare of clients.
- Varies work schedule with Program Manager to assist in assuring 7-day a week on-site supervision at assigned community living home.
- Shares on-call status with the Program Manager to ensure the home is adequately staffed at all times.
- Assists program staff in following correct crisis procedures. Contacts supervisor to notify of concerns at the home.
- Practices safe and sound crisis prevention and intervention strategies by promoting and teaching the use of preventative strategies.
- Reviews incident reports for completeness before giving final reports to supervisor.
- In absence of Program Manager reviews the daily sleep charts.
- In absence of Program Manager, may complete psychiatric review forms for the psychiatric appointments.
- May conduct fire drills as required by licensing and completes fire drill record.
- Completes all necessary documentation prior to end of shift including all staff resident and unusual incident reports.
- Implements all policy and procedures of Keystone; holds staff accountable for their actions; and in absence of Program Manager, may implement disciplinary action.
- Communicates regularly with supervisor to ensure continuity of care.
- Attends professional meetings as needed to represent the client and KCR.
- Schedules, attends, and transports clients to appointments including medical; counseling; court; supervised visitations; psychiatric appointments; etc…
- Promotes a safe and caring environment where individuals can learn and grow while enjoying a healthy and productive lifestyle.
- Supports residential activities such as maintaining of resident’s personal belongings, organizing and selecting appropriate outfits for work and recreation, involves individuals in community activities and events to enhance community living.
- Understands internal and external policies and follows employee rules of conduct and performance as set forth by Keystone.
- Promotes community awareness by demonstrating responsible, courteous behavior and a positive perception of individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Annually meets regulatory and agency in-service training requirements.
- Other duties may be delegated to the Program Manager as deemed necessary under the guidance of the supervisor.
- Participates in regulatory and agency in-service trainings including: First Aid/CPR, Safe Crisis Management New Jersey Pre-Service; Life-Threatening Emergencies/ Danielle’s Law; Medication Administration; Overview of Developmental Disabilities, Abuse and Neglect; and New Hire Orientation.
Work Environment:
- Community Living Home environment, which includes community and recreational activities.
- May experience exposure to body fluids and the need to provide personal, private care to individuals.
- Shifts may vary depending on staffing needs. Keystone is a 24-hour / 7 days per week facility.
- Work as scheduled during inclement weather conditions.
- Driving is required.
Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to lift and transfer 50 pounds using proper body mechanics 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to carry 50 pounds for at least 20 feet
- Must be able to climb and descend 20 stairs carrying 20 pounds
- Must be able to bend to retrieve an object at floor level 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to readily change direction while walking
- Must be able to run a distance of 100 ft. 1-2 times hourly
- Must be able to walk a distance of one mile
- Must be able to crouch at the knees 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to kneel on both knees
- Must be able to drive for a period of one hour 3-6 times daily
- Must be able to stand for a period of one hour 6-12 times daily
- Must be able to sit for a period of one hour 6-12 times daily
- Must be able to push/pull 10 pounds
- Must be able to grasp an object with at least one hand
- Must have at least 20/40 combined vision with or without corrective lenses
- Must be able to hear a normal spoken voice with or without hearing assistance
