Title: Associate Project Manager (PMO)
Location: St Paul, MN Hybrid role with onsite work cadence (up to 3 days / week) required
Duration: 6 Months
DESCRIPTION:
Description of Position: We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and motivated Associate Project Manager with strong project management fundamentals and experience managing projects utilizing waterfall, agile, and hybrid project management methodologies. The ideal PMP certified candidate has experience working in a PMO environment, with hands on tool experience with Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, and Visio to support project planning, execution, and reporting. This candidate will also excel managing small and medium sized technical projects using project management and agility best practices.
Responsibilities:
Project Management Support
- Support the creation of project plans, timelines, and PMO deliverables for projects using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Support Project and Program Managers in tracking project progress and managing project documentation.
- Manage small project initiatives requiring less rigor and governance as directed by PMO Manager.
Process Creation and Documentation
- Support the development, documentation, maintenance, and accessibility of PMO project management processes and procedures.
- Create and manage templates, checklists, job aids, and other tools to improve PMO project execution consistency.
Team Collaboration
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among PMO team members.
- Participate in PMO meetings, assisting with meeting note capture and follow up.
- Support PMO team members with tools, resources, and procedures necessary for effective management of their projects and programs.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist in preparing and delivering project status updates to stakeholders.
- Support alignment of project objectives to business goals through support of PMO teammates.
Risk and Issue Management
- Identify potential project and process risks and issues.
- Assist in developing mitigation and escalation plans as appropriate.
Continuous Improvement
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
- As directed, implement best practices that contribute to a team culture of continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging project management and agility best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Level of Education
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Business Management or Project Management
- 2-3 years of experience in process management or project coordinator roles.
Certification
- PMP Certification required
- CSM Certification desired
Skills & Qualifications
- Exposure to waterfall and agile best practices.
- Experience successfully leading small and medium sized projects, incorporating project management or agility best practices, and utilizing relevant software tools.
- Experience with process creation and documentation activities and mastery of relevant software tools.
- Knowledge of Project Management methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of the Agile Manifesto and the agile framework.
- Knowledge of Windows platform and current Internet technologies.
- Exposure to project management software, including Microsoft Project.
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment may be required for some activities.
- Candidate must have strong organizational skills, a detail orientation, and be able to effectively multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
Compensation for roles at Beacon Systems Inc depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, BeaconGov provides reasonable range of compensation for this role.
