Position: Data Migration and Modernization Specialist
Duration: Long term (12 Months plus)
Location: Onsite - Tallahassee, FL 32399
Job Description
This scope of work is for full modernization effort of the Bureau of Epidemiology data systems including scalable data ingress, integrity platform application, enhanced business intelligence, front-end automated data validation, data quality alerts, anomaly detection, migration of case data, data analysis, and enrichment of data. Align and support current and future Department data modernization initiatives for relevant data sets. Contractor will provide these services to the Florida Department of Health (Department).
The specialist will work closely with state health officials, IT teams, and data analysts to ensure smooth integration and operational continuity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in data migration, data integration, and cloud-based systems.
- Proficiency in AWS cloud services (S3, API Gateway, Lambda, Redshift, RDS, Glue, etc.).
- Experience with ETL pipelines, data validation frameworks, and API integrations.
- Strong SQL, Python, and Java programming skills for data transformation and anomaly detection.
- Experience in real-time event-driven processing and anomaly detection algorithms.
- Knowledge of SSO authentication, data governance, and compliance standards.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Florida Department of Health or other government agencies.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Certifications in AWS, Data Engineering, or Project Management (PMP, CSM, etc.).
