Key Responsibilities:
- Data Modeling & Architecture:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and efficient logical and physical data models to support business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics within the healthcare domain.
- Construct and maintain data transformation pipelines within the enterprise data warehouse analytics environment.
- Ensure continuous optimization of existing data models for performance, scalability, and integration with evolving business requirements.
- Develop data models that seamlessly integrate complex healthcare data sources, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Business Collaboration & Alignment:
- Partner with technology teams to define and implement data solutions and architecture for large-scale, complex initiatives.
- Collaborate with business leaders, data analysts, and IT teams to gather and interpret business requirements, translating them into actionable data models that support analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making.
- Work cross-functionally to identify data needs, define use cases, and ensure data models effectively address business challenges and opportunities.
- Mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, and ensure adherence to data modeling standards, methodologies, and governance processes.
- Data Governance, Quality, & Compliance:
- Ensure data models comply with organizational data governance policies and industry standards, particularly within the healthcare sector.
- Develop and implement data quality processes to validate and cleanse data, ensuring high standards of accuracy and consistency.
- Proactively identify and resolve data quality issues, ensuring data accessibility and reliability for reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure data models adhere to privacy and security regulations, advocating for secure data management practices and protecting sensitive health information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, mathematics, or a related discipline with 6 years of relevant experience.
- OR Associate degree in computer science, information systems, data science, mathematics, or a related discipline with 9 years of relevant experience.
- OR high school equivalency wit 12 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience includes expert computer skills in relevant software and data modeling or similar experience in predictive modeling (classification, regression, parameter tuning, optimization criteria, feature selection).
- 5 years of data modeling and data warehousing/data mart development experience with Snowflake, SQL, Python, and Git or similar version control and code review tools.
- Experience with ETL development, including importing data files and from source operational databases.
- Proven experience in the healthcare, health insurance, and/or insurance industry.
- Proficiency in Kimball modeling, normalization, and hybrid data modeling methods.
- Professional certification in an analytical area (Mathematical Modeling, Data Analytics, Data Science, Actuarial Services, Accounting, etc.).
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with business leaders and engineers.
- Advanced proficiency with Power BI, SQL Developer, and other query tools (MedInsight, BusinessObjects, etc.).
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel.
- Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare claims payment systems, industry-standard reimbursement methodologies (Medicare & Medicaid), and health insurance market rules and regulations.
- Advanced medical insurance knowledge of codes and acronyms.
- Demonstrated ability to be inquisitive and creative in developing analytical tools and presentation formats, with a strong attention to detail and timely issue resolution.
- Ability to organize and prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment.
