Construction Estimator
Beam Construction Company, Inc., a Regional Commercial General Contractor, is looking to add to the team with an experienced construction estimator. We are looking for the right person to join our team that values a family atmosphere, where you are not a number. We are an old school GC with current technology that loves what we do. Key Responsibilities
- Preconstruction services and estimate preparation for assigned projects.
- Lead the development of complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals for multiple projects.
- Estimating projects which typically range from $500,000.00 to 50 million dollars.
- Coordinate and lead the preparation and assembly of complete, well formatted estimate presentation/ report amongst all team members.
- Estimate self-performed work and pricing the labor, equipment, and material costs for sitework, concrete, masonry, rough carpentry, etc.
- Attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents for the estimate.
- Perform/manage document distribution - Ensure complete inventory of documents; distribute plans, specifications and all other pertinent documents to subcontractors; ensure sub information needs are met.
- Prepare subcontractor / vendor list; update subcontractor / vendor database as necessary
- Issue bid invitations to subs / vendors - Ensure adequate bid coverage for each trade package, generate interest and get commitments on sub participation.
- Appropriately address questions to architects / engineers for clarification
Key Requirements
- Strong technological ability.
- 5 years project estimating experience with a general contractor
- 3 years Masonry estimating experience.
- Organized and analytical thinker with ability to work as a team.
- Strong working proficiency using estimating and takeoff software, such as, On-Screen Takeoff, Planswift. Additional software experience in Timberline, Bluebeam, and Microsoft programs specifically including Excel.
