Senior Engineering Manager

We are assembling a world-class team to drive the future of payments for the next century. Beam has raised $14M from leading crypto investors, including Castle Island Ventures and Archetype, and is growing rapidly.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager with experience building cross-border payment systems who is eager to join on the ground floor of the stablecoin revolution. This role requires a unique blend of technical leadership, strategic problem-solving, and hands-on development. You will be instrumental in defining Beam’s engineering culture, scaling our infrastructure, and integrating cutting-edge technologies to revolutionize global payments.

In this role, you'll:

• Own the development and delivery of Beam’s new platform, including technical architecture and infrastructure rebuild.
• Build and execute the 2025 roadmap, including platform migration and team expansion.
• Work closely with the CEO, representing the engineering team with investors and other stakeholders.
• Allocate time across strategy & architecture (25%), team management (25%), and hands-on development (50%).
• Develop and execute a staffing strategy to support forecasted growth, utilizing a combination of FTEs, contractors, and third-party partners.

• You have a proven track record of leading lean, high-impact engineering teams while contributing to key technical decisions.
• You possess a strong sense of ownership, with the ability to identify problems and proactively develop solutions.

• You are still actively coding, particularly in building high-throughput, event-driven systems
• You have the ability to go deep into the code base and review team PRs while also defining & representing strategic, big picture work
• You have experience with people management and are interested in scaling a team
• You have a keen ability to define complex problems, draw valid conclusions through research, and define workable solutions.
• You have strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively while managing competing priorities.
• You demonstrate the ability to hold confidential information and display honesty and high ethical standards.
• You’re not afraid of hard work and are result-oriented, thriving when navigating ambiguity in rapidly changing environments.

Technical Experience:

• Strong expertise in TypeScript, React, Node.js, Nest.js, and PostgreSQL with Prisma
• Deep familiarity with AWS infrastructure
