Qualifications
The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing and supporting various accounting functions within the organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and analysis and managing accounting staff. This role involves preparing financial statements, month-end closing procedures, and supporting the Controller with key financial decisions.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares various financial statements and submits them to different manufacturers.
- Reviews and works with the staff on month-end closing procedures and day-to-day operations.
- Reviews daily billing, tax, banking, and accounts payable with the assistance of the Office Manager and Accounting Supervisors.
- Participate in the preparation for annual audits and respond to audit inquiries.
- Review the schedules and reconciliations of accounts on a period basis with Office Manager, Accounting Supervisors and Staff.
- Works with Office Managers in reviewing and managing the activity of cash balances.
- Reviews processed checks along with supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Assists with financial analysis and to provide insights for the Controller and other departments.
- Assists the various Department Managers by analyzing sales, expenses, forecasts, compensation plans and operation of departments.
- Assists the Controller and Executive Management in development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Help develop and maintain company policy along with accounting policies, procedures and controls.
- Manages, supervises and trains the Office Managers and Accounting Department’s staff.
Position Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in the Accounting field.
- High-school diploma or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge and experience with Dealer Management System (DMS) operating systems.
- Excellent organizational, time management, prioritizing and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Bilingual preferred.
