Barista at bean THERE: Café

Bean There: Café in Princeton, NJ is looking for one barista to join our growing team. We are located at 2107 Goldfinch Blvd. Our coffee bar is connected to a co-working space in the heart of a residential community. We have partnered with a notable coffee roaster to provide single-origin coffee and speciality teas.

We are looking for a people-centric barista to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, along with executing a light fare menu. Your responsibilities include educating customers on our drink and food menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent experience for our guests.

To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing and espresso equipment operates. You should also be able to work various shifts. 

This position’s compensation includes a competitive hourly salary and tips.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter
• Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee/espresso blend, dairy and sugar ratios, etc.)
• Prepare beverages following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food (e.g. cookies, pastries, muffins, etc.)
• Receive and process payments; both cash and credit cards
• Keep the bar area clean and sanitized
• Maintain stock of all inventory
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommendations to enhance customer experience

Requirements and Skills

• Previous work experience as a barista
• Hands-on experience with brewing and espresso equipment
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Basic math skills
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• Flexibility to work various shifts

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $18.00 - $20.00/hour.
