Position Overview :
Bear Construction, LLC is looking for a full-time Estimator to join our team. The Estimator is responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of the estimating and bid process. This includes maintaining a consistent, accurate, and timely delivery of quotes to new and existing customers, reading and interpreting plans, and communicating with clients and engineers. Duties & Responsibilities :
Develop project budgets (including labor and materials cost), schedules, & timelinesThoroughly review project plans and specifications to understand the scope of work and material requirements , and construction methodsPrepare comprehensive scope of work analysisIdentify potential risks and uncertainties that could impact project costs and develop mitigation strategiesAccurately calculate material take-offs using take-off softwareEvaluate and select subcontractors and suppliersObtain competitive bids from subcontractors and vendorsNegotiate with material suppliers and subcontractorsCalculate detailed cost estimates for all aspects of a project including labor, materials, equipment, sub-contracting services, and any contingency costsMaintain up-to-date subcontractor pricing and scopes of workIncorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis into unit and man-hour calculationsReview estimates with leadership before submissionSubmit bid documents within the deadline requirementsPrepare bid turnover information and correct bid to reflect last-minute price changesAssume lead role in job turnover to project managementWork with Project Manager on any extra work / change orders and g enerate change order proposals as requested by Project ManagerStay updated on current market trends, material pricing, and labor costs to make informed cost estimationsReview completed project summaries with company leadershipRequirements / Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED (Associates or Bachelors degree preferred)2 years of experience in estimating in underground utilities and civil site developmentStrong knowledge of construction practices, scheduling, and budgetingAbility to interpret complex project documents and translate them into accurate cost estimatesAbility to read and interpret construction plans and specificationsWorking knowledge of computer-aided take-off and estimating software (AGTEK, HCSS HeavyBid / HeavyJob)Proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExcellent math skillsExtremely detail-orientedEffective communication skillsGood organizational and time management skillsA valid driver's licenseHigh standards of honesty, integrity, and commitment to producing a quality work productBenefits :
