What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Superintendent position at BEAR Construction?
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Traveling Superintendent to join our team. Our Superintendents must be highly organized, effective communicators, team players, and capable of completing projects in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Project Safety (maintaining positive safety culture/approach, implementation, oversight and enforcement)
- Enforce OSHA and company safety policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct daily site inspection audits and safety meetings (e.g., JSA’s, TSAs and toolbox talks).
- Investigate and report any incidents, near-misses, or safety violations.
- Project Quality Control and Quality Assurance
- Help develop and maintain the project schedule in coordination with the project lead/manager
- Identify and mitigate potential delays by proactively resolving issues.
- Coordinate material deliveries and equipment logistics
- Maintain daily reports on site activities, progress, delays, and incidents using Procore software.
- Ensure proper documentation of RFI’s, change orders, and field directives with project team.
- Work with project management to track costs and control expenses.
- Act as the main point of contact for field personnel, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Provide clear instructions and expectations to the workforce.\
- Hold weekly field labor/subcontractor on-site progress meetings to align all parties on objectives and milestones.
- Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance.
- Communicating any field conflicts and notifying internal project team.
- Set performance goals and deadlines.
- Monitor and report on project progress.
- Adhere to estimated costs and ensure the project is on budget.
- Supervise field staff and provide constructive feedback.
- Coordinate requests for appropriate manpower.
- Plan inspections with local jurisdictional authority.
Qualifications:
- 1O years of experience as a construction superintendent or similar role
- Field experience, trade school , or college degree (Construction Management/Engineering preferred)
- Knowledge of local quality, safety , and health guidelines for cons truction job sites
- In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
- Understanding importance of proper phase codes and assigning time
- Familiarity with mobile project management software (ProCore etc.)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suites
- Organizational and time-management skills
- OSHA 30 Open/Willing to Travel (required)
