Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Summary
Responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Unloads and loads materials, reads plans and specifications, tends machines, mixes concrete, pours concrete, and assists carpenters, operating engineers, and other construction site workers.
Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Equipment in Utility, Roads, and Reclamation applications. (Landfill, Bridges and Paving application a plus)
- Capable of operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in Utility or underground construction, Earthmoving base preparation and Paving.
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary.
- Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
- Operate equipment on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
- Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment.
- Other construction related duties as required.
- GPS (Global Positioning System) a plus
- Learn new trades.
- Travel throughout the State of WV and surrounding States.
- Safety oriented and willing to be taught OSHA safety requirements.
