Job Title: Pool Director

Reports to: Events Manager

Position Overview

The Pool Director is a member-facing employee with strong leadership skills who is responsible for the policies, procedures and administration of the pool complex. The Pool Director works closely with the Events Manager.

The Pool Director and the Events Manager at Bear Hill Golf Club share responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the pool facility and for the health, safety and welfare of those using the club’s swimming pool. The Pool Director is responsible for promoting the pool as a fun and hospitable environment for all club members in accordance with the policies, and procedures outlined by the Pool Committee, Board of Directors and club management. The highest priority for the pool management team is life and water safety and holding pool staff accountable to the highest possible standard when it comes to life and water safety.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

· Supervising the activities of pool staff and swimmers by enforcing the rules and regulations consistent with the operation of pool facilities and those specific set forth by the Bear Hill Golf Club Pool Committee.

· Interview, hire, schedule, supervise and train all pool staff.

· Plan and prepare, in coordination with the appropriate club personnel, the pool for its seasonal opening and closing.

· Organize and conduct regularly scheduled programs for the members including: swim lessons, swim team activities, and other special social events as directed by the Events Manager

· Informing swimmers of improper activities or hazards.

· Notifying Chair of the Pool Committee of any accidents, rescues or problems that arise.

· Notifying Chair of the Pool Committee of any equipment that need repair.

· Provide timesheets to Bear Hill Golf Club for processing.

· Successfully and positively performing within work team dynamics.

· Interact with all Bear Hill members and their guests in a professional, hospitable and respectful manner always, guiding all pool staff to do the same.

· Acts as the “friendly face of the pool” to the membership, with a high degree of visibility and “on-deck” presence

· Adherence to Bear Hill’s expectations encompassing communication, working relations, job reliability and initiative, safety, accomplishment of work tasks and supervision.

· Maintain and ensure that posted safety rules for all conduct in the pool and bathhouse are followed

· Maintaining cleanliness of the entire pool complex.

· Ensuring all guest charges and swim lessons are properly charged.

· Assisting members and guests in a professional and courteous manner

· Operate a safe, sanitary and well-maintained pool facility, consistently meeting or exceeding MA DPH and PBCC standards, as well as member expectation

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Certifications

· Certified Pool Operator (paid for by BHGC)

· CPR/AED Certification

· Lifeguard Certification

· WSI Certification is a preferred but not required

· Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability, attention to detail and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

· Ability to perform moderate physical work; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently, performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and lifting

· Ability to work well with a diverse team.

· Honest, respectful, dedicated, ethical with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Position Requirements

· Previous pool experience is a must

· Available for new member orientation night in May

· This role requires the ability to work from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend as well as on nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Employment Benefits

· Competitive pay. $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

· Employee meals provided while working.

· Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Experience:

  • Lifeguard: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:
