POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences to guests at the Bear River Family Entertainment Center. This position involves delivering attentive and friendly service, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guest satisfaction in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Servers are responsible for upholding high standards of guest service and promoting a safe and positive atmosphere.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere upon their arrival.
- Provide menu recommendations and offer insight into special promotions.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, ensuring clarity and attention to specific preferences.
- Relay orders to the kitchen and bar in a timely manner, ensuring accurate preparation and presentation.
- Serve food and beverages to guests, adhering to proper serving techniques and timing.
- Monitor guest satisfaction during the dining experience, addressing any issues promptly and professionally.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
- Engage with guests to create a personalized dining experience, offering assistance and answering questions.
- Prepare and process accurate bills and accept payments, including cash, credit cards, and electronic payments.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, including tables, chairs, service stations, and condiments.
- Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure efficient flow of orders and maintain guest satisfaction.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of dining areas before and after service.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
- Uphold responsible alcohol service practices and ensure compliance with legal drinking age requirements.
- Promote a positive team environment by assisting colleagues as needed and maintaining effective communication.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to stay updated on menu offerings, promotions, and safety protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age
- Must have a High School diploma or GED.
- Experience in a server or hospitality role preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must provide or obtain ServSafe Food handler (California) certification upon hire.
- Must provide or obtain ServSafe Alcohol (California) certification upon hire.
- Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aid certification within three (3) months of hire.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
- Proficient personal computer skills including routine database activity and point of sale system activity.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, colleagues, and supervisors both verbally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with Native American people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
- Interaction with guests and guest exceptional service.
- Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.
