POSITION SUMMARY: The Pump and Play Cashier is responsible for cashiering, collecting payment from customers and making change or completing sales transaction via debit or credit card. Cashiers provide excellent customer service to all customers including assistance with transactions. Cashiers keep shelves stocked and faced. Cashiers also provide light housekeeping within the store and surrounding grounds. Light cooking or warming foods may also be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
- Accurately process transactions through the POS (Point of Sale) system and count back change to customers.
- Stocking, facing and organizing product as needed.
- Keep the convenience store and surrounding area clean.
- Perform assigned daily/weekly cleaning duties.
- Light cooking or warming of food items.
- Maintain a balanced till and accuracy of all transactions.
- Assure proper patron identification is provided prior to sale of any alcohol or tobacco products.
- Recognize the signs of alcohol intoxication, denying sales of alcohol to intoxicated patrons in accordance with California Alcohol Beverage Control rules and regulations.
- Be alert and able to identify fake or altered customer identification.
- Be alert to shoplifting and immediately report such activity.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Must be 21 years of age
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must provide or obtain a Food Handlers certification upon hire and maintain during employment.
- Must provide or obtain the Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification and maintain during employment.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
- Basic personal computer skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.

This is not a smoke free workplace. Although we employ state of the art filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the environment. Employee smoking is only permitted in designated employee areas during working hours.
