Bear River Health has 3 in-patient residential facilities located in Boyne Falls, Gaylord and Walloon Lake, Michigan. Shift is full time 12pm-10pm, mainly Saturday's and Sunday's.

Function:
The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for the support and mentoring of clients while in our Residential Treatment Facilities. He/she will maintain close communication with Clinical Director, case managers, and therapists. Acts as the central receiver of pertinent clinical data and works closely case managers and therapists in the formulation of treatment planning, responding to crisis within the milieu and planning for the needs of clients and client milieu to ensure efficacy of service delivered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Orients new clients.
- Ensures safe and consistent environment for clients.
- Intake – manage paperwork and information.
- Assessment.
- Treatment/Recovery planning in conjunction with residential staff and clinical director.
- Documentation of progress and treatment plan reviews.
- Discharge and after-care planning, documentation, and interventions.
- Clinical updates to family and/or referral sources (as allowed via client consents).
- Regular sessions with clients, as outlined via Participant Admission Agreement and Treatment Plan.
- Crisis Intervention.
- Referral to outside providers (dental, legal, psychiatry, etc.)
- Group facilitation; both process and educational groups.
- Filing, copies, other office duties to complete case management duties and support of nursing staff.
- Preparation of group materials and researching new methodologies for inclusion in group and individual sessions.
- On call shifts might be necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Maintain a peaceful, enjoyable and learning-engaged community by engaging with clients and staff in a professional, kind and consistent manner.
- Seek the support of the Operations Director with any questions or comments on how to improve processes.
- Initial belongings search
- Checking client into residential room
- Chore allocation to clients
- Spot checking of residential rooms to ensure cleanliness.
- Shopping list receiving and managing.
- Locker management
- Drug testing
- Receiving additional items.
- Administering Surveys (mid-term and exit)
- Discharge duties
- Understand and reference 9:00 Morning Reflections, 3-ring binder and know how to facilitate group.
- Understand and reference 3:45 Multiple Pathways, 3-ring binder and know how to facilitate group, when led by Tech.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge or ability to learn multiple pathways in working with recovery. (i.e. the 12-step treatment model, integral recovery and its application in residential treatment.)
- Specific knowledge in addiction and treatment resources preferred.
- Assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of treatment and referral community in Northern Michigan.
- Knowledge of dual diagnosis treatment practices including non-pharmacological symptom management techniques.
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred certificate or associate degree in psychiatric or mental health technology, in addition to on-the-job training or comparable experience)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use of hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
