What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commissary Driver position at Bear s Restaurant Group?
Position Summary:
The Commissary Driver is responsible for ensuring all purchase orders are fulfilled as per request. Driver will maintain a up to date itinerary and make deliveries at select BRG locations as per Commissary Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Practice safe food handling and cleanliness at all times. Adhere to Servsafe, State of Connecticut and, HACCP standards.
- Drive to locations in the greater Hartford and New Haven areas.
- Maintain logs that reflect items transferred from commissary.
- Practice safe food handling and cleanliness at all times.
- Assist with miscellaneous moving and cleaning projects as requested for all BRG locations.
- Inspect vehicles daily. Monitor and immediately report any maintenance concerns of vehicles to management.
- Bring vehicles for maintenance and inspection appointments as needed.
- Adhere to schedule and be on time for shifts
- Adhere to company uniform and appearance policy
- Operate and participate effectively in a team environment
- Clean with chemicals while wearing gloves
Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age and candidate must be able to:
- Provide proof of a valid driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle screening.
- Adhere to company policies regarding safe driving and maintain a clean driving record during employment.
- Read purchase orders and food labels.
- Maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for an extended period of time while performing with quality and accuracy.
- Withstand exposure to possible food allergens including but not limited to; meats, fish, nuts, dairy, and oils.
- Withstand exposure to and work with cleaning chemicals.
- Lift up to 80lbs constantly.
- Lift from floor to shoulder constantly and overhead infrequently.
- Twist, reach, & bend frequently.
- Listen to and comprehend instructions from Leads, Managers, and coworkers over background restaurant and equipment noise constantly.
- Frequently wash hands.
Skills/Qualifications of Ideal Candidate:
- High School degree or equivalent preferred and/or 1 year experience in related industry.
- Good communication skills, friendly and polite demeanor.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle operations and maintenance needs.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in a restaurant.
- Strong interpersonal skills; Team player.
