R&D Specialist, Baker
R&D Specialist will support the development of new products and adaptation of existing products and ingredients. This candidate should possess a passion for baking, a general understanding of bakery ingredients and functionality, good communication skills and the ability to work alongside Plant Operations, Food Quality, Purchasing and Production Teams. The position supports all technical and regulatory aspects of the business. - Support specific projects in close collaboration with all team members
- Support R&D tasks during product development and adaptation process.\
- Conduct benchtop analysis, pilot validations and support plant trial activities.
- Conduct analytical and application evaluations.
- Evaluate new and alternate raw materials compared to standards
- Maintain product label and regulatory data.
- Be resourceful and have the desire to achieve objectives.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and the challenges associated with scale up.
- Prepare samples for demonstrations or internal and / or external purposes
- Ensure analytical correctness.
- Respect Quality Assurance criteria of samples (traceability, GMP, HACCP).
- Lab Area Management
- Keep work areas clean, orderly, and organized.
- Request laboratory supplies as needed.
- Other Responsibilities
- Responsible for any other assignments or duties within the scope of the business.
Knowledge, Skills and Requirements
- Minimum 2-year degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related field, Nutrition, Food Technology…
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in bakery food product development or related food product development field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, English language
- Basic Math, understanding skills
- Good Problem solving skills
- PC Skills, Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to compare and distinguish differences in ingredients, materials and overall performance through taste, smell, touch, and visual inspection. (including allergens, wheat, milk, egg, and soy and possibly others).
- Demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.
- Able to lift to 50.0 lbs.
- Dexterity to allow the safe and efficient operation of various pieces of equipment including, scales, ovens, fryers, mixers, etc.
- Able to stand for 6 or more hours during the workday.
- Must be able to work independently and set priorities. Good Time Management Skills

Pay: $38,793.00 - $105,819.00 per year
