RESPONSIBILITIES: The environmental services technician is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. While executing the assigned tasks, the EVS Tech will have contact with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff. Contact may include physical, psychological, educational, and safety related and should be appropriate to the specific demographics of patients served in assigned service areas. Responsible for ensuring timely room turns within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The environmental services technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provides direct support and education for patients and family members who seek healthcare services at Bear Valley Community Healthcare District.
- Facilitates communication between the patient and the primary medical team.
- Provides ongoing support to patients and families following adverse events.
- Performs variance tracking.
- Provides support for Risk Management
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:
- BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
Minimum Experience Required:
- One year housekeeping experience
Experience Preferred:
- One year housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting
- Floor care experience
Skills
- Ability to make decisions that are based on specific instructions and standard practices
- Ability to address routing problems
- Ability to follow basic instruction
- Ability to read and write in English to follow basic safety instructions
- Ability to understand spoken English to follow basic safety instructions
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures
- Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, staff or patients
