The job of “Health Aide” is established to perform a variety of medical activities and procedures necessary to meet the general and specialized health care needs of all students including those with exceptional needs in accordance with state law and district policy; to perform clerical duties including all forms, logs and reports relating to the Medical Billing Program; and to assist/perform with the School Nurse all student screening and documentation under the general supervision of the Principal. Trained by the School Nurse, the Health Aide will perform other related duties as assigned. Essential Job Functions:
·Assists in providing emergency nursing care to pupils who become ill or injured or who may require other physical or healthcare services at school.
·Administers first aid.
·Compiles and maintains student health records and referrals to physicians and community agencies .
·Transports injured students as directed.
·Maintains inventory of necessary health supplies and aids.
·Distributes health information.
·Recognizes and respects confidential student information.
·Deals tactfully and courteously with students, staff and the public.
Job Requirements – Qualifications:
Experience Required: Graduation from high school or equivalency and evidence of successful experience in working with children and adults required.
Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities Required: Basic practices and procedures of first aid, CPR and specialized healthcare; understand basic symptoms of communicable diseases; and modern office practices, procedures, methods and equipment.
Licenses, Certificates, Bonding and/or Testing Required: A valid California Driver’s License and provide own transportation; a current First Aid Certificate; and CPR Training and current certification.
