Join Bearded Bee Brewing Company, an award-winning brewery in Wendell, NC (just 20 minutes east of Raleigh). We are currently looking for a passionate, hard-working individual to join our production team. The ideal candidate for this position can learn and follow direction, work well interdependently with the other members of our team, and shares a commitment to the production of quality craft ales and lagers. A strong work ethic is required. Prior brewery experience or brewing education is highly preferred.
Position Summary:
- We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our brewery team as a part-time cellarman. The cellarman plays a vital role in maintaining the quality of our beer and ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of our brewing operations. Key Responsibilities:
Cellar Operations:
- Assist with kegging beer and properly labeling and storing kegs.
- Wash, sanitize, and maintain kegs according to brewery standards.
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of brewery equipment (e.g., fermenters, tanks, and hoses).
- Monitor and maintain CO2 levels and ensure kegged beer is properly carbonated.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean floors, drains, and general back-of-house (BOH) areas to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Sanitize and prepare equipment for brewing, fermenting, and transferring beer.
- Conduct CIP (Clean-In-Place) processes on tanks and other brewing equipment.
- Proper use and handling of chemicals
Logistics and Inventory Management:
- Assist in organizing and maintaining inventory of raw materials, supplies, and kegs.
- Receive and unload raw materials as needed (may involve moderate-to-heavy lifting).
General Support:
- Provide assistance to brewer during production and packaging.
- Follow safety protocols and report any issues or hazards promptly. Must wear company-supplied steel-toed boots throughout entire shift, and wear company-supplied safety glasses and gloves when necessary.
- Assist with quality control tasks, such as monitoring fermentation temperatures or taking gravity readings.
- Safely operate forklift, pallet jack, and other machinery
- Assist Head Brewer with projects and other tasks as needed
- Take on new responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Passion for craft beer and an eagerness to learn about brewing operations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality.
- Ability to think critically and work unsupervised.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly (e.g., kegs and supplies).
- Comfortable working in a physical, fast-paced, and wet environment.
- Comfortable climbing ladders to reach high areas.
- Flexible schedule, to be coordinated with the BOH team.
- Prior experience in a brewery or food production environment is a plus, but not required.
