DUTIES
1. Coordinates, organizes and participates in the preparation, cooking, baking and serving of food items.
2. Review and follow recipes, production records and menus in the preparation of food items.
3. Assist in maintaining, inventorying, and ordering food products.
4. Participate in the research and testing of new food products.
5. Assist in completing daily, monthly and yearly food and supply inventories as needed.
6. May assist and prepare food for banquet and catering type of food service activities.
7. Responsible to maintain the food service area in an orderly, safe and sanitary condition
8. Helps to ensures proper ingredients are available for meal production.
9. Helps to ensure daily production record, logs and paperwork are completed.
10. In the absence of the Food Service Director and Lead, will direct the work performed by other employees in the same classification at the work site.
11. Assists with checking in, distributing and inspecting food and supplies during deliveries.
12. Other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Understands and follows written and oral directions
2. Ability to lift heavy objects
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
4. Must be at least 18 years of age
5. Completion of the twelfth grade or G.E.D., supplemented by training in nutrition, quantity cooking or other related areas.
6. Must have or obtain your Food Protection Managers Certification for employment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Two years of experience in quantity food preparation, including cooking, serving, and kitchen maintenance in a commercial, institutional, or school food service setting.
2. Maintain a high energy level
3. Willing to work overtime.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The person selected for this position will be subject to a fingerprint criminal history clearance (paid by the District) through the California Department of Justice, per AB1610, prior to the candidate’s date of employment.
*Must provide a copy of your high school diploma or G.E.D.
HOURS/SALARY
5.75 hours daily (9:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) .50 break
211 days per year; $20.21 - $27.08 per hour
