Job Summary
Beatrice Ready Mix and Concrete Company is looking for a high performing, results-oriented Plant Support Operator to join our team. This positions is responsible for general labor support for the plant, operating equipment, and supporting batch activities and the yard area to help ensure the concrete plant is maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of the plant and grounds areas by sweeping, shoveling and removing aggregate from the area in a wheelbarrow, loader or skid loader to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the concrete plant.
Operates a front-end loader, skid loader or forklift according to requirements of the current need.
Loads aggregates into trucks and bins. Assures appropriate amount according to order requirements.
Unloads railcars and silos by use of high-volume air machines, hooking and unhooking hose according to daily needs.
Maintains plant inspection records and helps with other record keeping processes.
Works with appropriate personnel to identify and plan daily operations.
Performs daily pre-trip/shift inspection on equipment. Greases, changes oil, change tires and perform other maintenance as required.
Pours leftover concrete into forms, and when concrete is dry, breaks latches and moves block to designated areas.
Performs as backup to batch personnel using Dispatching and Batching programs; schedules orders and batches concrete according to customer’s needs.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
- previous experience in a construction &/or construction products with 3-6 related mechanic experience and/or training; or
- an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment--forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck and a front-end loader is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Forklift, Loader and ACI Field Testing Tech. Grade 1 Certification, or has the capability to complete requirements of the program and passing the test in a reasonable period of time.
Other Qualifications:
- Must be mechanically inclined to support maintenance roles when necessary.
- Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds and must be able to climb to heights of 125 feet.
- Hours may vary based on daily loading requirements; must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season, including late or irregular hours. Some occasional Saturday work will be required.
- Must have Basic Computer skills.
Other Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend load tickets, SDS sheets and the company safety manual.
- Ability to understand work direction. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.
- Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions in the yard and in the plant area.
