ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Under the direction of the Custodial Coordinator, the custodian works cooperatively with BCCC faculty/staff to perform the following:
FLSA Non-Exempt Estimated Hours per Week Maximum of 29 hours per week Range $15.00 - $17.00 per hour Based on the College's salary plan and commensurate with education and relevant work experience. (This range includes a relevant educational level up through an Associate's Degree.)

Beaufort County Community College serves a 2,100 square mile service region comprised of four counties (Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington) in coastal North Carolina. - High school diploma or GED required.
- Individual must be dependable, self-motivated and able to perform duties assigned without direct supervision.
- Qualified candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle a floor buffer.
- A physical exam will be required upon receipt of job offer and employment contingent upon successful completion.

Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Under the direction of the Custodial Coordinator, the custodian works cooperatively with BCCC faculty/staff to perform the following:
- Keeping all buildings and their contents, inside and out, clean as assigned (floors, restrooms, windows, furniture, walks, etc.).
- Reporting any damages or problems with buildings or equipment to the Custodian Coordinator.
- Moving and arranging equipment and furniture as assigned.
- Unlocking assigned building at scheduled time and reporting problems with heat or air immediately.
- Assisting other maintenance personnel as needs arise.
- Scheduling and performing work so that it gets done without interfering with classes or other activities.
- Performing other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Empty outside trash cans.
- Keeps mechanical rooms & janitorial closets clean and tidy.
- Cleans sidewalks around building and entrances with leaf blower.
- Pulls weeds in shrub beds as needed.
- Wet mop hard surface floors.
- Buff hard surface floors.
- Refinish hard surface floors.
- Cleans spots in the carpet and furniture.
- Submits work orders for any maintenance items, i.e., toilet problems, and lighting issues.
- Cleans and dust ceiling diffusers and lighting fixtures.
- Dust furniture, all high walls, and ledges.
- Cleans all whiteboards and trays daily with whiteboard cleaner.
- Cleans all glass at entrances to the building.
- Removes all cobwebs inside and outside of the building.
- Comply with the College's policies and procedures located on the BCCC website.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the supervisor.
