Oversees the ongoing development and functions of the Blood Conservation Program by coordinating the medical, emotional, physical, spiritual and mental needs of both the in and outpatient. Utilizes knowledge of human growth and development to assess, interpret data, design and evaluate a plan of care as appropriate to the adult and geriatric patient. Duties include patient rounds, participating in discharge planning meetings, quality assurance data collection and reporting for Blood Utilization Review, marketing and facilitation of the Blood Conservation program. On-call activity as liasion coordinating physician and patient communication, availability to outside sources for consultation and presentation, and physician referral for related procedures. Works closely with patient, patient's family, physicians, unit managers, nursing staff, and ancillary personnel to coordinate the needs of the patient admitted to BMH with the desire for blood conservation measures or to receive no blood during hospital stay.
Position RequirementsEducation:
- Ability to obtain a South Carolina License
Experience:
- At least 3 years clinical experience preferred.
- Experienced in patient and physician relations. Some program development and management experience preferred. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with the beliefs of organizations such as Jehovah`s Witnesses as related to transfusion of blood products helpful, but not required. Must be self motivated.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Licensed as an RN in the state of South Carolina.
