The Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) has the primary role of daily coordination of care delivery for patients undergoing cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, PVD Rehabilitation, and High Risk clients in the Wellness Center. The CEP serves as the designated resource for staff, patients, physicians, payors, and other departments for those clients transitioning from a clinical program into the general Wellness Program. The CEP participates as a member of a strong interdisciplinary team in the overall functioning of the department. In the role of case manager the CEP’s primary responsibility is to determine the goals for functional improvement and reduction of cardiovascular, pulmonary, and diabetes disease risk factors and to manage the patient’s progress toward these goals. The CEP is responsible for directing daily operations of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, including all clinical and business elements of operations. The CEP works closely with Director of LifeFit Wellness Services to determine direction for program development and oversee process improvement.
Position RequirementsEducation:
- Minimum B.S. in Exercise Science, or Health/Wellness-related field.
- Preferred M.S. in Exercise Physiology
Experience:
- 2 years in a health-related field of employment.
- Preferred experience in an acute setting, with outpatient clinical experience.
- Consideration given for experience and education.
- Experience in lifestyle modification education, clinical exposure to cardiac, pulmonary, and diabetes populations is an advantage.
- Ability to lead, develop and articulate vision is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Qualified to take either the American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Specialist or Register Clinical Exercise Physiologist Exam after one year of employment.
