What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025-2026 Elementary Academic Interventionist position at Beaufort County School District?
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school based Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams to identify students requiring intervention and develop tailored instructional plans.
- Deliver evidence based academic support to students, focusing on areas such as literacy and mathematics.
- Utilize assessment tools that evaluate student progress and adjust intervention strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate to support teachers regarding evidence-based intervention practices and instructional strategies.
- Intentionally monitor and report student progress to ensure effective implementation of interventions.
- Flexibly engage with students across different curriculums based on their needs, fostering a growth mindset and resilience in learners.
- Conduct Assessments:Administer and analyze formative and summative assessments to identify student needs and measure progress.
- Collaborate with teachers to create individualized intervention plans tailored to each student's strengths and areas for growth.
- Deliver instruction focused on specific skills in literacy and mathematics, utilizing evidence-based strategies.
- Regularly monitor and document student performance and growth, adjusting intervention strategies as needed to ensure effectiveness.
- Provide training and support for classroom teachers on best practices in academic interventions in accordance with MTSS practices and protocols
- Communicate with parents and guardians about their child's progress, providing resources and strategies for support at home.
- Work alongside special education teachers and multilingual teachers, school psychologists, and other specialists to support students with learning needs.
- Foster a supportive atmosphere where students feel safe to take risks and engage in their learning.
- Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and share findings with school leadership, instructional coaches, and educators to guide overall academic strategies.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay updated on the latest research in academic intervention and instructional strategies.
- Must have a valid South Carolina teaching or be able to obtain one within 60 days from being hired.
- Must be Highly Qualified in the content area of reading or be able to become Highly Qualified in the content area of reading within 60 days from being hired.
- Reading Teacher Endorsement or Certification (preferred)
- Must have completed a program of study in education from an accredited college or university.
- Use strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job.
- Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.
- Speak and hear.
- Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision.
- Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
- Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls.
- Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
- Have regular and punctual attendance.
- Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
