    POSITION PURPOSE:
    Performs various routine to moderately complex payroll functions to ensure efficient and effective operations. Provides assistance and support to supervisor, school and central office personnel and the general public as required.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Verifies employee information and executes additions, deletions and changes for payroll.
    • Verifies and processes employee time sheets to include blended overtime rates. Communicates discrepancies to school and supervisor.
    • Verify and processes authorized stipend payments.
    • Verify and processes overtime charges for maintenance staff.
    • Maintain and process docked pay and communicates information to employee and Human Resources.
    • Verify and processes Personnel Action Forms for new hires, terminations, and status changes.
    • Verification, reconciliation and submission all monthly and quarterly retirement reporting and payments to the SC Budget & Control Board.
    • Reporting and processing of SC Retirement System documents necessary for employee retirements .
    • Report insurance benefits.
    • Collection of payroll overpayments.
    • Serves as backup to Payroll Specialist for processing complete payroll.
    • Researches any and all discrepancies of payroll information and recommends corrective actions.
    • Provides training for school-based payroll staff.
    • Maintains integrity of confidential information and data security in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
    • One year of technical school or equivalent training in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or related field.
    • Three years relevant work experience.


    EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have demonstrated a high level of skill and knowledge of financial database, spreadsheet, and word processing software applications. Must become proficient in the use of software provided by a financial institution. Working knowledge of other office equipment and machines, such as a copier, fax, calculator, etc. are essential.
